He’s really helped me further my understanding and love for guitar with his teaching style. Whatever questions I have about technique, theory, songwriting, even questions across genres, he always has an answer that makes sense. He helped me get into Berklee College of Music by teaching me how to go about choosing my prepared piece, helping me learn to improvise, and teaching me some sight reading skills. Overall, Jim is an incredibly well rounded teacher who’s sure to give you the education that you’re looking for, no matter what skill level you’re at. After taking 6 weeks of lessons at Guitar Center and getting no where, I found Jim through a referral and started lessons with him. I was playing my first song (I wanted to learn Amazing Grace) at the end of our first lesson! He was able to tailor to the music that I like, and at a pace which is good for me. I am thrilled to say that I can actually see myself being successful in learning the guitar now. If you have ever wanted to try it - I encourage you to call Jim! Jim is an excellent teacher and a master of his craft. He can explain music at high level while also able to explain it in easy to understand terms. He takes the time to get to know his students and build a curriculum for their experience and needs. Chris Zaborowski2024-02-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and have been stuck at a plateau for the past 10. I've done two lessons with Jim so far and he has completely changed how I see the fretboard. I see so many more musical options at my disposal thanks to Jim's teaching and perception. I've tried other teachers in the past and Jim has been the only one that unlocked this barrier for me. Looking forward to many more lessons! Kevin Thomas2024-02-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jim is hands-down one of the best guitar teachers in the Houston area. He's one of the best kept secrets in our area. It's incredible he even has slots available in his schedule to teach any more students. He has a vast wealth of knowledge on both theory and practice and even more than that, he is able to teach. He is able break down concepts to children that most other music teachers don't fully grasp. He is able to craft analogies and anecdotes to explain things that I have tried for years to understand so effortlessly it's borderline obnoxious. He's great with kids and it's been amazing to see the young musicians before my timeslot improve. Some of them are barely bigger than the guitars they play but he's still able to instill musical wisdom into them that will serve them well in the years to come. Regardless of skill level or musical background it's worth at least taking one lesson with him. It has helped me break through the musical barriers I've been stuck behind for years. A wise man once said that you can't lead someone where you've never been and Jim has been there. I can't recommend him enough. Ian Dolan2023-12-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been playing guitar for 18 years and started lessons with Jim to learn music theory and get better at more advanced techniques and shreds. I have improved a ton with these lessons. The best guitar person for in person or online guitar lessons. Xander Kirk2023-10-28Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I started learning guitar a few years ago and got in touch with Jim and had lessons on electric guitar for around a year and a half. He was flexible, had a super positive attitude, was always willing to get you any song you wanted to play including ones without guitar parts, even writing the tabs for them himself, and would give helpful advice from his own experience learning guitar and teach you whatever you wanted to know. The best part by far to me though was he had premade notes that taught concepts on them and chord charts. Both are super useful when learning.
